Molly Sayles (drums) is currently the Band Director at Cromwell Middle School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education, Cum Laude, from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. An accomplished student musician, she was selected as a member of the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Jazz Orchestra (MACJO), performing at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola- Jazz at Lincoln Center. While attending WCSU, Ms. Sayles had the good fortune to play with renowned guest artists including Sean Jones, Curtis Fuller, Jimmy Greene, John Pattitucci, and Renee Rosnes. She credits her many dedicated music teachers with helping her to achieve her educational and performance goals. In particular, she thanks Art Hovey for helping her develop into the musician she is today, having performed under his tutelage in the Sugarfoot youth jazz band. She still occasionally gigs with him, as can be heard on the GJB's recent Sweet Substitutes CD. Whether at the Elementary or Secondary level, Ms. Sayles continues to realize the importance of arts education. She remains an active percussionist and performs in Jazz and Pop groups across the region.
