On December 16 (2012) the Civic Orchestra of New Haven presented its annual holiday concert in the historic Battell Chapel, located at the corner of College and Elm Streets in New Haven. The orchestra is directed by Christopher James Hisey. The program included Tchaikovsky's Overture to Romeo and Juliet, Dvorak's Slavonic Dance Number One, along with Leroy Anderson's Christmas Festival and other holiday favorites.  Suggested contribution: $15 General Admission, $10 for Students and Seniors. . . . Connecticut's 2012 TubaChristmas was Saturday, December 8 at 2 pm in the auditorium of Old Saybrook High School.

On November 17, 2012 the Connecticut Symphonic Winds presented a concert of band music in the Roger Ludlowe Middle School Theatre at 689 Unquowa Road in Fairfield, CT. The program featured Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and also included Wagner's Prelude to Parsifal along with several other works. These concerts are free and open to the public. DIRECTIONS & MAP . . . On October 14, 2012 Roy Rubinstein's Chicago Hot Six (with John Skillman, Sarah Spencer, Jack Kuncl, Art Hovey and Mike Albiniak) performed from 4 to 7 pm for the Jazz Appreciation Society of Syracuse at the Casa Grande, located at 135 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse, NY, 13204.

Then on October 15 the same band performed for Rochester's Flower City Jazz Society at the Green Lantern Inn, located at 1 East Church Street, in Fairport, NY, 14450.

On August 27 (2011) Bill Logozzo's Heartbeat Dixieland Jazz Band performed at 6:30 pm on the Boardwalk at Ocean Beach Park in New London, CT. There was also a classic car show. The address that the Ocean Beach website gives is misleading, but putting "100 Neptune Avenue, New London, CT 06320" into your GPS will get you there. Map & Directions:

On May 19, 2012 the Connecticut Symphonic Winds presented a concert of band music in the Roger Ludlowe Middle School Theatre at 689 Unquowa Road in Fairfield, CT. The program featured Eric Whitacre's Godzilla Eats Las Vegas! and will also included Sparke's Flowerdale (featuring Joseph Spitzer, Eb cornet soloist), Reed's Hounds of Spring , Kabelevsky's Colas Breugnon Overture, and much more! On Friday, April 13 (2012), there was a concert by the NMS Faculty Ragtime Ensemble featuring the music of Joseph Lamb, the "Last of the Ragtime Pioneers", arranged by Art Hovey for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, tuba and piano. It was at the Neighborhood Music School, located at 100 Audubon Street in New Haven. This annual event is free and open to the public. Recordings:

On March 10, 2012 the Connecticut Symphonic Winds presented a concert of band music in the Roger Ludlowe High School Theatre at 785 Unquowa Road in Fairfield, CT. The program will included Creston's Celebration Overture, Chichy's Colours, Herbert L. Clarke's From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific (with Art Hovey, tuba soloist), and the Barnes Symphony No. 3, the "Tragic", along with some lively traditional marches. On November 12, 2011 the Connecticut Symphonic Winds presented its fall concert in the Roger Ludlowe Middle School Theatre in Fairfield, CT. The pre-concert began at 7 pm with a brass ensemble, and the main program began at 7:30, with Philip Giampietro as featured euphonium soloist. These concerts are free and open to the public. On March 25, 2011, there was a 7:30 pm concert by the NMS Faculty Ragtime Ensemble at the Neighborhood Music School, located at 100 Audubon Street in New Haven, featuring many new ragtime arrangements for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, tuba and piano by Art Hovey. On October 17 (2010) Sarah Spencer's International Jazz Band performed from 4 to 7 PM at Macnamara's Pub, 5600 Newport Road in Camillus, near Syracuse, NY with Sarah on sax and vocals, Charlie Weyant on sax and clarinet, Charlie Bornemann on trombone, Bill Sinclair on piano, Art Hovey on bass, and Bob Lasprogado on drums.

Chicago Hot Six East Coast Tour: On Saturday, May 16 (2009) Roy Rubinstein's Chicago Hot Six with Sarah Spencer and Art Hovey performed for the Potomac River Jazz Club at the Rockville Elks Club, 5 Taft Court, in Rockville, Maryland.
- On Sunday, May 17 the band performed for the Pennsylvania Jazz Society at the Easton Moose Club, 3320 Fox Hill Road, in Easton, PA.
- Then on Monday, May 18 the band performed for Rochester's Flower City Jazz Society at the Green Lantern Inn, 1 East Church Street, in Fairport, NY.
