Chapter 16 is about Wave Motion.

On pages 135 & 136 we investigate pulses, periodic waves, and standing waves on a stretched spring.

The Chapter Review Sheet should be started now.

On pages 137 and 138 we use standing waves to determine wave speed and we figure out how wave speed can be predicted.

On pages 139 & 140 we use standing waves to measure the speed of sound in a cylindrical tube and then figure out how sound wave speeds can be predicted

On pages 141, 142, and 142b we investigate harmonic series, music, and the diatonic scale.

On pages 143, 144, and 144b we figure out how radar speed traps work, we figure out how electromagnetic wave speed must depend on electromagnetic properties of the medium, and we discover the amazing fundamental fact that leads to Einstein’s special theory of relativity.
